On 30th April, the Director General for Sports went to the facilities of the Asumu Team Kick boxing Club, to get to know the fighters who recently took part in the African Amateur Kick boxing Championship. The five-member expedition returned to the country with four medals (two bronze and two silver), after having enjoyed unprecedented success.
This was recognised by the Director for Sports, Josue Esono Edu, who urged the young people to serve as role models for young people anxious to make sport part of their lives, as part of our learning and way of life.
The representative of Club Asumu Team, the former world champion, Alex “Warrior” Asumu, whose club is located in the sports centre annex of Malabo Stadium, showed the Director of Sports the renovation work on the hall, which will become the nerve centre for this sporting discipline, which he founded in the country, and praised the public-private sporting initiative. Through similar actions, it will become a model for the future continuous growth of amateur sport in our country.
