The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, received the German ambassador, Elmar Jakobs, in his office at the ministerial headquarters of Malabo II on Friday, 12th May. During the meeting, the German diplomat showed Mba Mokuy his government’s support for the Equatorial Guinean candidature – a temporary position before the United Nation’s Security Council.
The meeting was also an opportunity for Agapito Mba Mokuy to talk to the German ambassador in our country, Elmar Jakobs, about bilateral interests with particular emphasis on the UN and the work that the two countries are carrying out in New York concerning Equatorial Guinea’s entry into the UN Security Council.
To this effect, Elmar Jakobs highlighted that “we are satisfied cooperating with Equatorial Guinea and to support their candidature for the UN Security Council. We wish to work with Equatorial Guinea and with other African countries for a UN Security Council reform because as we recall at the moment, the Security Council reflects a situation after the year 1945, after the Second World War. It doesn’t currently reflect the real situation of the world, and we believe that we are going to firmly cooperate in New York for the Security Council reform, said the ambassador.
