ACCRA, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana left here Monday for a three-day official visit to Equatorial Guinea aimed at deepening bilateral ties exploring possible new areas of co-operation at the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

President Akufo-Addo’s visit will, in particular, give further impetus to the June 2017 Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ministers of energy of the two countries on the supply of liquefied natural has (LNG) from Equatorial Guinea to Ghana.

He is expected to sign a government-to-government Heads of Agreement with his Equatorial Guinean counterpart for the supply of LNG from Equatorial Guinea to Ghana, for a period of five years to augment domestic supply over the period, and improve further the power situation in Ghana for local consumers and industry.

The president will be accompanied by Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Boakye Agyarko, the Minister of Energy, and officials from the two ministries and the Presidency.

President Akufo-Addo would return to Ghana on Wednesday.
