Grand Cross of National Independence for Indian President

There was an exalted reception on 8th April by the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, for his Indian counterpart, H. E. Ram Nath Kovind, at the People’s Palace in Malabo.

The two leaders held a meeting, in which the aim of this State visit, the establishment and strengthening of bilateral diplomatic relations, was among the matters covered.

H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo decorated H. E. Ram Nath Kovind and his wife with the Great Cross of National independence.

Through presidential decrees numbers 45 and 46, of 7th April, the President grants the Great Collar of the Order of National Independence to his counterpart.

These honours are granted through the sacred custom in our country of honouring dignitaries who contribute directly or indirectly to the development of Equatorial Guinea and world peace, said the Head of State, during his words of gratitude aimed at the illustrious visitor.

For his part, the Indian leader replied with a demonstration of gratitude for the leader of the nations, for the hospitality and consideration received.

After the act and the photo session, they heard the national anthems, and there was then an official lunch offered by the presidential couple to the illustrious guests and their entourage, which was also attended by some presidents from constitutional bodies, the Prime Minister, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, various members of the Government, the two General Secretaries from the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, advisers and director generals from the Head of State’s office.
