The Head of State and Government, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, leading the official delegation of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea that arrived on Wednesday, January 28, in the capital of Ethiopia, to attend the 24th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
The new Summit of the African Union (AU) is being held these days in the Ethiopian capital. The main meetings held during the 24th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government, between January 30 and 31, will be attended by representatives of 54 countries forming the African institution.
In the Addis Ababa International Airport, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and his companions were received by members of the Ethiopian Government and the Equatorial Guinean colony residing in that African country, led by the Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Ethiopia, Simeon Oyono Esono.
The main theme of this year 2015 is Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063. The participation of the presidential delegation began in the Committee of Ten (C-10) on the reform of the UN, and has continued with the launch of the Study on the Right to African Nationality and the high-level meeting on the Kigali Action Plan on Water and Sanitation in Africa.
The Heads of State and Government of the AU present in Addis Ababa have also held the meeting of the Council for Peace and Security. During this work on Thursday, January 29, the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has organized a working lunch.
The official opening of the 24th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will take place on Friday, January 30, and will be chaired by Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in his capacity as current Chairman of the AU.
