On Saturday 26th May the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, within the framework of official visits, went to the municipality of Corisco, belonging to the administrative jurisdiction of Kogo, within the Province of Litoral.
Various figures led by the Governor of the Province of Litoral, Bartolome Owono Nze, were at Felipe Inestrosa Ikaka Airport to welcome the Head of State on his working visit, which also served as an opportunity to attend the celebrations of the Patron of Corisco, Our Lady of Fatima.
At the opening ceremonies, the First Deputy Mayor welcomed the inhabitants of the area and, in particular, the Head of State, for the transformation of the jurisdiction, and the efforts of the Government to defend the peace and stability that reign in our country.
For her part, Isabel IraA�l Ivina, as daughter of the town, revealed to those present the nominations that the Corisco Town Hall had reserved for the Presidential couple. These were the titles of Favourite Children of Corisco, to H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in recognition of the wide range of infrastructure in the area, and the First Lady for her humanitarian acts in defence of children and women; these titles were presented by the Mayor of the Town Hall.
The Minister for Public Works, Diosdado Nsue Medja, provided detailed descriptions of the projects opened, and their budgets. The parish church reached a total of over 2,000 million Franco CFA; the Medical Centre, valued at 3,500 million Franco CFA; the Corsico 4-Star Hotel Complex with a total of 52 rooms, over 5,000 million Franco CFA, and the 5-Star Hotel Resort Spa, the first stone of which was laid by the Head of State, around 100 thousand million Franco CFA.
Furthermore, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo also spoke to those present about the political situation in the nation and , finally, he reminded them of the need and importance of keeping the peace, as one of the basic foundations in Equatorial Guinea development.
The celebration of the fiesta of the patron of Corisco 2018 continued with the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon and the revelation of the inaugural plaque by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. Following the Eucharistic mass, the Head of State went to the municipal cemetery, where he paid homage to the island’s emblematic figures, with the laying of a wreath on graves.
On their return to Malabo, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and other figures present were seen off by political and military figures, together with the population.
