On 30th May, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, received in audience a French mission led by Charles de Kersabiec, commander of the French armed forces in Gabon, and head of military cooperation in Central Africa.
Thanks to this meeting, the cooperation between the French and Equatoguinean Governments in matters of defence has been strengthened.
I am the commander of French elements in Gabon and head of military cooperation with Central African countries. Equatorial Guinea is our partner; I was received by the Head of State to look at the plan for the military cooperation project, and we also covered the training on which we are going to work together, to train units of the armed forces, so that they are capable of confronting the situation regarding defence, security and terrorism”, declared Kersabiec.
The issues for the audience also included cooperation in matters of the recycling and training of human resources, and the exchange of experiences in military matters.
In the presence of the Minister for the Presidency of the Republic, Charged with Missions, Alejandro Evuna Owono Asangono, and the French Ambassador, Fred Constant, the President of the Republic and the commander also covered other matters, within the framework of the agreements signed between the two nations, referring to questions such as maritime security, the fight against terrorism, and the operation of the General Obiang Inter-arms Military School (EMIGO), where they give French nationality technical classes.
