The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, granted two separate audiences on Tuesday 9th April, at the People’s Palace in Malabo. In the second and final audience, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo received Urbino Jose Gonzalves Botelho.
The first meeting was with Miguel A�ngel Moratinos, UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, who in the presence of the Minister for Trade and Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Companies, Pastor Micha Ondo Bile, conveyed to the President the commitment of his institution to peace and stability on the African continent.
“Equatorial Guinea can serve as the ideal platform to cover questions of mutual interest, above all with respect to dialogue, culture and religious diversity; taking into account that the UN General Secretary had tasked me with drawing up a global action plan for the entire international community, through which we can protect places of worship, religions and culture. I would also like to count on the support and participation of Equatorial Guinea in the fight against terrorism, where prevention is more important for the Alliance of Civilizations”, declared Miguel A�ngel Moratinos, before the national media.
In the second and final audience, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo received Urbino Jose Gonzalves Botelho, special envoy and bearer of a message that the President of the Democratic Republic of SAPound o Tome and Principe, S.E. Manuel Pinto da Costa, sent to his Equatoguinean counterpart.
The contents of the message were not revealed to the press, but it is related to the strengthening of the good bilateral relations between these two member States of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bonifacio Mitogo, accompanied the head of State during this audience.
