On Wednesday 6th march, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, accompanied by Constancia Mangue de Obiang, oversaw the act of inauguration of the new urban district of Mebam-Cdo and the new military barracks in Mongomo.
The ceremony, which was attended by the President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, began with thanks from an elder in representation of the people’s councils that make up this new urban community. They also heard words of welcome from the Mayor and there was a presentation of gifts to the Head of State.
According to the report presented by the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Town Planning, Diosdado Nsue Medja, the emblematic work consists in 20 social housing blocks, a town hall, a school, a police station, a health post, a meeting room, a Government office, and new networks for the supply of water, for sewage, for the collection of rainwater, for electricity and for lighting, cost the Government over six thousand million Franco CFA and was carried out in a period of 24 months.
With a sign of peace for those present, the Head of State began his reflections, underlying the fact that the execution of this work, from the laying of the first stone to the inauguration of the urban district of Mebam-Cdo, could be explained as a result of the climate of peace in the country.
It is not the town that is swept daily that is cleaner, but the one that is dirtied less”, said the President, inviting the good use and maintenance of the infrastructures in the new urban district of Mebam-Cdo.
The act concluded with a priest’s blessing and the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon on the work.
