The Vice-President of the Republic, State Defense and Security Officer Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue met in the afternoon of Wednesday, his office in the People’s Palace with the ambassadors of Spain and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Guillermo Lopez Mac-Lellan and Tong Chol Ho, respectively. Both meetings have dealt with bilateral relations, among other issues.
Ambassador Guillermo Lopez Mac-Lellan was the first to meet with the Vice President of the Republic. Both spoke on issues of common interest between Spain and Equatorial Guinea, and on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of our country’s accession to the United Nations next year 2018.
– ” We have talked long and wide of many subjects. We talked about the possibilities of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the independence and accession of Equatorial Guinea to the United Nations, which will take place next year, also coinciding with the presence of Equatorial Guinea in the Security Council. We are seeing that the year 2018 can be an opportunity to work together. We have also discussed issues of international politics, and we have discussed the possibility of collaborating in the field of human resources training and business issues , “said the ambassador at the end of the hearing.
Lopez Mac-Lellan has also stated that Spain’s relations with our country are cordial: ” We are part of the same family, we are a community that has a common history. Equatorial Guinea looks a lot at Spain and Spain knows Equatorial Guinea very well and, as in all families, there are moments of great intensity and in other moments of tension. We have to inject affection into these relationships and I think we are on a good track . “
The Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has also been welcomed by Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, to review relations between the governments of the two countries. The diplomat thanked the Equatorial Guinean government for the excellent cooperation it maintains with his country.
Tong Chol Ho has given the Vice President an invitation from the North Korean Executive to make an official visit to his country. The date of this trip has not yet been determined.
After the hearing, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defense, Alfredo Abeso, informed the press of the topics discussed during the meeting: “It has been a good opportunity to review the existing cooperation relations between the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea “.
