On the morning of Saturday 20th January, the city of Malabo was the setting for a huge demonstration by the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) militancy and the general public, in condemnation of the failed mercenary attack in our country, on 24th December 2017.
The act was also attended by representatives from the private business sector, religious denominations, and the Chadian colony resident in Malabo. The demonstration started in the Plaza de la Mujer and went to the headquarters of the National Parliament. The demonstrators expressed their repulsion and condemnation of terrorism and any other method of destabilising the Government of the Nation, thus expressing the acceptance of the political strategy of the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
After the procession through the streets of the capital there were speeches from the General Secretary of the Friends of Obiang Movement (MAO), representatives from civil society, the business sector, and the president of the Malabo PDGE Monitoring Commission. The MAO General Secretary, Anacleto Olo Mibuy, recalled that in the past, our country went through great difficulties, but thanks to the heroic actions of the Head of State, since 3rd August 1979, Equatorial Guinea is a benchmark country.
Olo Mibuy also highlighted the humanity and solidarity shown by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who contributed the democratic achievements that the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has obtained. The representative from the private sector, in his motion of condemnation and repulsion against the act of mercenary invasion and attempt to assassinate the President of the Republic, recalled that the entire People of Equatorial Guinea is declaring its repulsion and condemnation of the terrorist acts, mercenary invasion, and assassination attempt against the Head of State, “we, the workers in the national private sector and citizens of standing, cannot remain unmoved, and we join this demonstration and, in the name of all workers in the national private sector and in my own, express our energetic condemnation and repulsion of any type of destabilisation in our country”.
For his part, the president of the Malabo PDGE Monitoring Commission, Manuel Cristobal Morgades, asked for unity among party militants and the general public, in order to report any suspicious act that could put at risk the peace reigning in the country, recalling that the objective of the enemies of the homeland is to kill the population, loot the country and destroy infrastructures, eliminating peace and calm which reigns in Equatorial Guinea, in order to transform it into a scene of chaos, as in some other African countries.
