Interview with Cuban Ambassador

On 31st October, the world will once again declare itself against the embargo against the Cuban people which has been in place for almost 60 years. The Ambassador from the Republic of Cuba in Equatorial Guinea, Rodobaldo RaAl Isasa Herrera, in conversation with the press, spoke about the current state of the embargo.

With regards to the embargo, he affirmed that it was in reality is no more than a policy of open flagrant hostility, not only against Cuba, but which also exerted external pressure to boycott, while violating the free sovereign spirit, in addition to all declarations of solidarity from the international community interested in maintaining economic, trade, financial and investment relations with the country.

It is worth remembering that the real embargo measures against Cuba by the United States began in 1960, in response to the initial revolutionary measures of the triumphant revolution, which took express account of the exhortation that in 1959 the conservative newspaper The Wall Street Journal made through its editorial. From its beginnings and until recent times, the damage caused to our country through the irrational policy amounts to 933,678 million dollars”, said the ambassador.

Isasa Herrera also stated that, Very recently, the president of the State and Ministers Council, Miguel Diaz-Canel BermAdez, in an interview with the Telesur channel, stressed this and defined the main obstacle to development in the country as the embargo, which he described as a brutal practice, which continues to condemn our people to die needy, and violates the territory and imposes regulations on the relationship between the world and Cuba. It should be underlined that the embargo is an undeniable violation of human rights, because in the first place it is a violation of the right to life and full development of the people forming a community representing a country, which in this case is Cuba.

On 17th December 2014, diplomatic relations were restored between Washington and Havana. It is evident that there is some way to go in this political and diplomatic battle, which may depend on the luck of this administration that has declared it has no policy to demonstrate or promote that is not hostility, in the knowledge that the only true result will be the toughening of the unity among Cuban people and their decision to defend their freedom, which is to defend the revolution”.
