Introductory letter from FEGUIFUT president

The new president of the Equatorial Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFUT), Gustavo Ndong Edu, who is currently visiting European countries in order to boost the development of the federation, has written an introductory letter which we are publishing below.

Firstly, as new President of the Equatoguinean Football Federation (FEGUIFUT), I would like to express my gratitude for the trust gained for our candidacy among the delegates, and the expressions of support we have received from the world of football and the various authorities in the country, in particular the Ministry for Education, University Teaching and Sports.

After a convulsive period, full of complications and conflict, we have come to the Federation with the firm intention to resolve the problems affecting our sport, and we invite the football family to work with our Executive Board, in order to place Equatoguinean football in the place it deserves to be, both as an institution and on the pitch.

We have the firm conviction that through working in harmony and following the directorates set out in our electoral programme (optimisation of the operation of the administrative structure; organisation and development of competitions, and transparency within the Federation, we can achieve all the objectives which will make our sport a benchmark on a continental and international level.

One of the main aims of the Executive Board that I oversee is to train quality football players for our national teams. They must be the mirror in which all other lower categories see themselves. To achieve this, we are going to strengthen grassroots football and take the relevant steps in relation to foreign players who can take part in our leagues.

Finally, I wish to transmit a message of optimism. The moment has arrived to look forward, to work with determination and forget old gripes and, in that way, we will ensure that the entire population of Equatorial Guinea can once again enjoy national football and our teams.

Best regards,

Gustavo Ndong Edu Akumu.
