The Second Deputy Prime Minister for the Social Sector and Minister of Education and Science, Lucas Nguema Esono, as President of the National Technical Committee for Monitoring and Control of Ebola, held a meeting to evaluate the measures and strategies implemented in the prevention of the virus.
The meeting took place on Thursday, January 22, at the Ministry of Education and Science with the attendance of coordinators, committee members, medical teams of cooperation from Cuba, France, Egypt and Guinea Conakry, and the representatives of some international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Chairman of the National Technical Committee for Monitoring and Control of Ebola, Lucas Nguema Esono, reported on the preventive strategies against the disease being implemented in the Malabo International Airport, these days, where there is much traffic of passengers attending the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
The committee also submitted to the Minister a report on the analysis performed on 15,000 travelers who have visited our country in recent days.
Nguema Esono, after receiving all this information on the preventive measures, described as excellent the work of the committee and invited its members to further intensify their efforts to prevent infections from occurring.
