Malabo and Madrid review bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation

On Tuesday 21st May, at the People’s Palace in Malabo, the Vice-President of the Republic, Charged with national Defence and State Security, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, received the accredited Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador from the Kingdom of Spain to Equatorial Guinea, Guillermo Lopez Mac-Lellan. The two figures spoke about political and socio-economic questions in the two countries.

Nearly two weeks since Equatorial Guinea celebrated the Third National Economic Conference, the meeting on Tuesday served as a framework for the two figures to cover, among other matters, the economic diversification of the country.

“We spoke about economic issues, related to the Third National Economic Conference, and the possibility of seeing how we can promote the presence of Spanish investors in Equatorial Guinea” , said Guillermo Lopez.

“Taking advantage of the situation regarding economic diversification, we also spoke about matters of interest, not only for Equatorial Guinea and Spain, but of international interest, such as the issue of combating the piracy that affects an important area for the maritime traffic and international energy supplies, which is the Gulf of Guinea, and where there is occasional cooperation between the two Armies”, declared the Ambassador to the national press.

This was the first meeting held by the Equatoguinean Vice-President with the Spanish diplomat this year.
