The Equatoguinean Father Christmas brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of children on the island of Bioko-Norte, with more than 30,000 toys.
H. E. Nguema Obiang Mangue has kicked off his annual programme of mass toy distribution to the children of Equatorial Guinea.
The huge event, which took place on Saturday 24th December, at the La Paz Stadium in Malabo, was held under strict security measures.
Accompanied by his collaborators from the PDGE, the Sons of Obiang Association, and as the winners of the Miss TNO edition in its various categories, the President of the ruling party’s Youth Federation, in addition to praising the excellent organisation, was ready to continue the initiative until he could go on no longer.
The “One toy, one dream” campaign, which Nguema Obiang Mangue has been running for 23 years, aims to support families with limited financial means, as the Honorary President of ASHO understands that not all parents can satisfy their children at special times such as Christmas, when every child deserves at least one gift. In that sense, both the parents and their children expressed their happiness, while extending their thanks to Equatorial Guinea’s Santa Claus for his humanitarian gesture.
Nguema Obiang Mangue’s initiative not only benefits Equatoguinean children, but has also crossed borders, as in 2014, Nguema Obiang Mangue donated a thousand toys to children in Ivory Coast through that country’s National Assembly.
After the island, the distribution will continue on the mainland, with Bata being the first stop for Father Christmas, who plans to keep the flame of Christmas and New Year 2023 alive.
