Maria Coloma Edjang Bengono re-elected as Mayoress of Malabo Central Town Hall

On Wednesday 6th December, the Governor of Bioko Norte, Leon Elo Nchema, oversaw a meeting at the headquarters of the Provincial Government, for the election of the Mayoress of Malabo Central Town Hall, and Maria Coloma Edjang Bengono was once again re-elected to the post.

After the swearing-in of councillors, the vote was conducted, with the participation of a total of 12 councillors. There followed a count resulting in a draw at 6 votes each between the candidates Maria Coloma Edjang Bengono and Manuel Cristobal Morgades Ichaka. In accordance with the law, in this case the older candidate is elected.

Once Maria Coloma Edjang Bengono had been declared Mayoress of Malabo Central Town Hall, she was sworn in to the post, having a period of 24 hours to propose her Government.

The recently elected Maria Coloma, in her speech, expressed words of gratitude to those present for the trust placed in her, and promised to work for the improvement of the city of Malabo.
