The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and the First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, were guests of honour at the events taking place on Tuesday 25th June to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the Vice-President of the Republic, Charged with Defence and National Security, Vice-President of the PDGE and Honorary President of ASHO, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue.
Among the activities which took place on 25th June was the thanksgiving mass at Malabo Cathedral, said by Monsignor Juan Nsue Edjang, accompanied by other religious ministers.
In the homily on the Gospel of St. Matthew, the Monsignor pointed out that we should be grateful for the gift of life, above all on birthdays.
The Eucharistic ceremony was attended by various authorities, such as the presidents of constitutional bodies, members of the Government, the PDGE General Secretary, and family and friends who wished to accompany the “Elder Brother”, as he is known with affection in the country, on such a special day.
At the end of the mass there was a moment of euphoria on the esplanade of the cathedral, when the crowds sung happy birthday to Nguema Obiang Mangue.
