In accordance with the official programme for the State visit by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to Cape Verde, the work began with a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, H. E. H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and H. E. Jorge Carlos Fonseca.
Moments before the meeting, the Head of State gave his impressions in the visitors’ book at the presidential palace. Following the audience behind closed doors, the two leaders held a press conference before the media.
The two spoke about the establishment of agreements based on the diplomatic framework of cooperation between the two States, and as members of various bodies on a global, continental and subregional level, such as the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), and the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) Group.
The specific areas covered were exchanges in culture, agriculture, tourism and the pharmaceutical industry.
The two leaders, as H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo mentioned, aim to prioritise a permanent political dialogue with the establishment of periodical meetings and gatherings between the mixed delegations.
The Equatoguinean Head of State also declared his desire to revitalise those agreements, working on security and the development of the two countries.
