On 28th January, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the People’s Republic of China reviewed their relations of friendship and cooperation, with the Vice-president, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue and the Chinese Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea Chen Guoyou, as the main representatives.
The reception of the Chinese diplomat by the Vice-President took place in the People’s Palace in Malabo, in the presence of the Equatoguinean Ministers for Foreign Affairs and National Defence, Simeon Oyono Esono and Alejandro Bacale Ncogo, respectively.
The meeting between the two figures served as a framework to analyse with greater emphasis the results of bilateral cooperation and the achievements over the last two years, in the sectors of defence and security.
This afternoon, the Vice-President of the Republic granted me a very warm audience, in which we placed greater emphasis on the active results we have achieved in the last two years through the integrated cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea, in particular in the sectors of politics, defence and security”, said the Chinese ambassador.
The two parties also covered the possible State visit that the Head of Defence and State Security Corps could soon make to China, accompanied by an important delegation from the Equatoguinean Government.
“We are further strengthening diplomatic cooperation and mutual trust, both politically and in the deep friendship between our two countries”, added the ambassador. Currently we are trying to increase relations on a strategic level, so that China and Equatorial Guinea can share the same development engine. It is for that reason that the Chinese party is giving a significant welcome to H. E. the Vice-president of the Republic, in order to promote cooperation in the fields of Defence and Security, with the aim of reaping further fruitful results between the two countries”.
The two are attempting to strengthen the diplomatic ties uniting them through important agreements signed in the sectors of health, education, defence and culture, among others.
This is the first meeting between the Vice-President of the Republic and the Chinese diplomat this year. The two figures last met on 20th November 2018.
