Investment in nutritious food for refugees and the displaced, within African countries themselves, must be paramount. This is the theme of the 11th Meeting of the African Working Group on Food and Nutrition for Development (ATFFND), which the Prime Minister of the Government, Charged with Administrative Coordination, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, opened at the Palace of Conferences in Sipopo on 19th June.
The meeting in question will last for three days.
The Prime Minister, in the name of and representing the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, spoke to reaffirm that, despite the fight against malnutrition, this continues to be a challenge for the African continent. He also praised the efforts deployed by African countries to seek lasting solutions in matters of nutrition. He mentioned the importance of good nutrition for human welfare and sustainable development on the continent.
Other speeches delivered at the event came from the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Salomon Nguema Owono, and from the representative of the African Union, Margaret Agama-Anyetei, Head of the Health, Nutrition and Population Division from the African Union Commission.
