Meeting of Foreign Ministers from Equatorial Guinea and Spain

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, is continuing with his work in Spain, and has held a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Alfonso Maria Dastis.

Within the framework of strengthening the relations which exist between Equatorial Guinea and Spain, the minister Agapito Mba Mokuy held a meeting on 14th June with his Spanish counterpart, Alfonso Maria Dastis, in order to pass on a message that the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, sent to the President of the Spanish Government.

Through the mandate of H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, I am here to thank the Spanish Government for the support provided to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea’s candidacy for the position of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council”, underlined Mba Mokuy.

The matter of Ceiba Intercontinental, which has spent several months without operating flights to Spain, was also one of the points covered at the meeting: we have had considerable support from the Spanish Government, in order to try to resolve the matter quickly and avoid negative consequences for the Ceiba Intercontinental airline” affirmed the member of the Equatoguinean Government.

For his part, the Spanish Foreign minister described the meeting as significant for the strengthening of relations between Spain and Equatorial Guinea.

The first Director General of Ceiba, Ruslan Obiang, was positive with respect to restarting flights to Spain in the near future.
