Meeting of Prime Minister with EITI

The Prime Minister, Charged with Administrative Coordination, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, held a meeting on the afternoon of Friday 14th June with the National Commission for the Transparency Initiative (EITI), with the aim of reporting to Obama Asue on the trip that is soon to be made to Paris, France, in order to present the steps taken by Equatorial Guinea in the process of joining this international initiative.

The commission, made up of the Government, Civil Society and oil companies operating in the country, aims to create transparency in the field of extractive industries, providing better information to the population regarding the matter.

The Minister for Mines and Hydrocarbons, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, as President of the commission, declared the important steps that the commission is taking in order for our country to join the initiative; as is the case of the opening of an EITI office in Bata, which took place last Wednesday, in addition to seminars planned both for Civil Society and members of the Government.
