On Wednesday 7th March, the Minister for Social Affairs and Gender Equality, Maria Consuelo Nguema Oyana, sent a message to all Equatoguinean women, in order to support and raise awareness in the fight for equality and female emancipation. The speech began by recalling the 146 women who died through suffocation in a textile factory in New York on 8th March 1857, whose date marks the celebration of International Women’s Day.
The call this year comes under the banner chosen by the United Nations of , Now is the time: rural and urban activists are transforming the lives of women”, in order to empower all women in all contexts.
