After the death of Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, President Obiang conveyed his successor, Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, a message of condolence.
The message sent by the Head of State of Equatorial Guinea reads:
“To His Majesty Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, King of Saudi Arabia:
Majesty, we received with great sorrow the news of the death of His Majesty Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.
Dismayed by this sad and unfortunate news, the people of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and their Government join me in expressing to His Majesty and the Arabian People, our condolences, anguish and sorrow, feelings that we ask you extend to the bereaved family. May God Almighty hold him in His abode.

King Abdullah died on Friday, January 23, due to illness. His brother, Salman bin Abdulaziz, is the successor to the throne.
