During the celebration of the events of 3rd August, Freedom Coup Day, the Minister for National Defence, Alejandro Bacale Ncogo, directly addressed the “mercenary and terrorist groups contracted by external and internal enemies who wish to destabilise our country”. During the day he also awarded the Vice-President of the Republic, H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, a Medal of the Order of Military Merit First Class.
The celebrations of 3rd August, Freedom Coup Day in Equatorial Guinea, took place in the city of Peace, the new, modern city of Djibloho, where numerous national and international figures gathered, on this day which is also Armed Forces Day.
During the celebrations decorations were awarded to the most outstanding members of the Armed Forces. At the behest of the Ministry for National Defence, the Head of State granted H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, Vice-President of the Nation, an Equatorial Guinea Medal of the Order of Military Merit First Class.
During the events, the Equatorial Guinea Minister for Defence, Alejandro Bacale Ncogo, in his speech, issued a warning to all those who, from outside and inside the country, have been trying for years to cause the destabilisation of the Nation, and he referred specifically to the attempted mercenary attack in December 2017.
Alejandro Bacale declared that, “I am making a rousing call through the following warning to the groups of mercenaries and terrorists contracted by the external and internal enemies who wish to destabilise our country, that they will not find the smallest eye of a needle through which to enter Equatorial Guinea”. The minister also condemned “any interference by international bodies and other States that, without declaring their true purposes, criticise without foundation the noble management of the Government of Equatorial Guinea, with its natural resources that mother nature has granted us”. Bacale went on to say that, the evaluation of the development of our Nation is exclusively and solely for Equatoguineans and their institutions”. and in reference to the attempted attack of December 2017, he reported that “it was carried out by a group of terrorists and mercenaries from neighbouring countries in our Region, in collaboration with certain Equatoguinean traitors. To all of them I say that the powerful Armed Forces of Equatorial Guinea are waiting day and night to give you what you are looking for, which will be no other than defeat after defeat”.
