On Saturday 23rd September, the Minister for Finance and Budgets, Miguel Engonga Obiang Eyang, met the President of the COBAC and Governor of the BEAC, ABBAS Mahamat Tolli, with the aim of looking at issues concerning the economy of the Equatoguinean nation and the subregion.
Accompanied by the director of the BEAC in Equatorial Guinea, Ivan Bacale Ebe Molina, the President of the Banking Commission of Central Africa (COBAC) and the Governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), the Chadian Abbas Mahamat Tolli, went to the ministerial department to speak about issues concerning the finances of Equatorial Guinea.
We must continue day after day the monetary evolution and progress seen in the improvement of the management of the subregion since the start of this year. We also spoke about the situation regarding our operational accounts and the monitoring of State transfers”, said Obiang Eyang, in his speech.
In parallel, the two spoke about the results of the measures that the Heads of State and of Governments within CEMAC adopted in the month of December 2016, in order to correct the negative trend in the monetary situation in the area.
Among other issues we looked at the economic balance and monetary policy; stability and the financial system, and the facilitating of commercial transactions for Equatoguinean companies, through the Central Bank”, said Abbas Mahamat Tolli, satisfied with the matters covered.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State for the General State Treasury, Milagrosa Obono Angue, and the General Secretary from the ministry, Clementino Meda Seriche, among other figures.
