Two points were covered during the meeting, which was overseen by the Minister for Social Affairs and Gender Equality, Maria Consuelo Nguema Owana: to share with those present the initiative and concern to provide a better life for the elderly, and the proposals for solutions to juvenile delinquency.
The meeting took place in the meeting room at the Ministry for the Interior and Local Corporations, and was attended by the Mayoress of Malabo City Hall, Maria Coloma Edjang Bengono, and the executive from the department of Social Affairs.
The minister highlighted the fact that in the matter of juvenile delinquency recently seen in our country, each of those called to the meeting has a role to play.
She also stated that she wanted to help all the abandoned elderly, and to that end she had asked Government delegates for information in order for them to be moved to care homes.
Under the second point, she asked religious institutions for involvement in the problem of juvenile delinquency, in order to seek proposals regarding the issue.
After concluding her speech, the religious leaders, mayors and Government delegates responded positively to the concerns and initiative by the minister.
