On the afternoon of Wednesday 7th June, in his office at the ministerial headquarters, the Minister for Trade, Antonio Pedro Olivera Boropu, met the president of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Certification Institute, Xavier Martins, who is in our country to supervise the work to install the institution.
The audience was also attended by Gregorio Boho Camo, president of the Chamber of Commerce, in his capacity as project coordinator.
The aim of the meeting was to report to the minister on progress regarding the work for the institute. We have come to give an account of the level of progress with regards to the Certification Institute, as the work is in the final phase, and we hope that in the next ninety days practical work will be possible. The presence of the CPLP delegation in our country was to supervise the work, in order to begin the operation and training for the CPLP Certification Institute in Equatorial Guinea”, said the president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Since the signing of the agreements between Equatorial Guinea and the CPLP, in 2016, progress has been made towards the installation of the institute in the continental part of the country, and work will begin soon on the island of Bioko.
It is expected that with its installation there will be a great deal of progress in the quality control of products imported into the country, to prevent adulterated products in the national market. The institute will also work so that national products can be exported to the international market, as there is a demand for our products.
