Ministry for Culture backs II African International Wine and Spirit Competition 2019

The Ministry for Culture and Tourism, led by Rufino Ndong Esono Nchama, has confirmed support for the initiative of the II AIWSC, and received last week representatives from Bioko Wine Imports, in charge of the organisation of the 2nd Edition of the “African International Wine and Spirit Competition 2019” (AIWSC).

The African International Wine and Spirit Competition (AIWSC) is the most important competition for wines and spirits from the centre and north of Africa, and has its headquarters, for the second year running, in Equatorial Guinea, thanks to the excellent results from the first edition.

The competition in international is scope, and takes place within the framework of the circuit of global wine competitions which take place on other continents. During the competition, wines from the most significant producing countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, etc. will be judged. Over one hundred wines will compete, and will be judged by a panel of expert wine tasters from around the world.

This important event is 100% financed with money from national and international companies, such as Hotel Magno Suites, FTF Catering, Enhora Tours, Apave, Restaurante Imagine and AGM, among others; all these companies committed to the promotion of “Brand Equatorial Guinea”. Equatoguineans will have the opportunity to get to know these exclusive wines in various parallel events which will take place during the course of the competition, such as Master-class, final public tasting, etc.

New for this edition is the participation of Regina Vanderline, current President of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the prestigious chef, Javier PeAa, recognised for being the current champion of Masterchef Spain, who will delight all the participants at this event with his culinary arts.

As in the first edition, the Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Craft Promotion is supporting the project, through the use of its infrastructures and a performance by the CEIBA national ballet, through which it intends to place the Republic of Equatorial Guinea at the vanguard of wine culture, ,making it the epicentre for wine on the continent.

The event will take place from 14th to 16th November.
