The Ugandan delegation led by H. E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, arrived in the city of Mongomo at midday on Sunday 27th August. After being received by local authorities, they went to the Town Hall, where the mayor of the town gave a welcome speech and demonstrated various symbolic objects from Equatoguinean ancestral culture.
The Ugandan leader gave his impressions, and signed the visitors’ book for the area. Furthermore, various national authorities gathered outside the installations to provide a welcome.
Local body structures, members of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), the general public, choirs, dancers and baleles all attended the reception.
The working programme for the African statesman took him to the Basilica Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mongomo, where he was received by the Bishop of the Diocese of Mongomo, Monsignor Juan Domingo Beka.
