On Thursday 22 August, the Minister for Social Affairs and Gender Equality, Maria Consuelo Nguema Owana, chaired a workshop for the tasks that were carried out by those responsible concerning the National Policy document on the subject of gender in Equatorial Guinea.
The event started with the Minister’s speech during which she pointed out the importance of the document. The minister also mentioned that the document takes actions and strategies into account that contribute to Equatorial Guinean women occupy their space in the national policy.
The objective is to participate in the same conditions in economic life, and in instances of all levels of decision making, to exercise their political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights, and aspire to lead a life free from violence and coercion.
Following the minister’s speech, the tasks commenced with a brief presentation of the document and ended with the presentation of the work groups.
