National Programme to Fight Malaria begins

On Friday 16th February, the official launch of the National Programme to Fight Malaria took place, with the distribution of mosquito nets and the 25th round of spraying of housing in Malabo, which was overseen by the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Salomon Nguema Owono.

The act was attended by the ministers for Health, Education, Information, and representatives from the Ministry for the Interior, among other figures.

During the start of the programme, various presentations were made in relation to the launch, where a total of 150 volunteers will collaborate on the distribution of mosquito nets and the spraying of housing.

The aim is to dramatically reduce malaria, and so 175,000 mosquito nets are being distributed on the Island of Bioko, in an action which will continue until the month of June.
