The new Equatorial Guinea Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi with residence in Congo-Brazzaville, Samuel Ateba Owono Iyanga, presented his credentials on 25th march in Buyumbura.
The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Burundi Foreign Affairs Ministry. The Permanent Secretary from the Ministry was the official who oversaw the ceremony.
Isidore Ntirampeba, in his words, congratulated the new Ambassador for the trust placed in him by his Government. Later, he mentioned the image the west has of the peaceful people of the Republic of Burundi.
For his part, Samuel Ateba Owono passed on a message of peace sent by the Equatorial Guinea Minister for Foreign Affairs to his counterpart.
The Republic of Burundi, located in East Africa, in the region of the Great Lakes, obtained independence in 1962, and has a population estimated at 8,053,574 inhabitants, according to the 2008 census. French and English are the official languages, and Kirundi is the national language.
