On 16th May, the meeting room at the Ministry for Finance was the setting for a meeting between the Prime Minister of the Government, Charged with Administrative Coordination, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, and the recently appointed General Secretaries and Director Generals and associates.
The meeting focussed on providing advice on the mechanisms required to implement in order that the recently appointed officials better perform their functions.
The Prime Minister praised the role played by the General Secretaries, Director Generals and Inspectors of Services, at the heart of each ministerial department, but he asked for the introduction of innovations based on a knowledge of the laws governing the operations of the State Administration, from the Constitution to the Law on Administrative Procedures; The Law on Legal Procedure of the Central State Administration; the Law on State Civil Servants and the laws or provisions governing the respective sectors covered.
Furthermore, he underlined the importance of teamwork, and the establishment of an action plan which helps to motivate personnel.
The matter of punctuality regarding their posts was one of the points which came up the most at the meeting.
In addition, Obama Asue insisted on the matter of corruption as the main tool paralysing progress in the country, a question which he compared to terrorism, in the sense that the two tend to destabilise a nation. With respect to terrorism and mercenaries, he invited those present to remain vigilant at all times in order to guarantee that peace continues to be a reality in Equatorial Guinea.
Accompanied by the Minister for Public Administration and Administrative Reform, Faustino Ndong Esono Eyang, the Prime Minister wished the new General Secretaries, Director Generals and associates success in their new functions.
