The excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the People’s Republic of China show the desire to strengthen harmonious development and the exchange of opinions on the bilateral agenda covering common interests, said Maria Angeles Miaga, in her speech.
Miaga underlined that this seminar was a response to the implementation of one of the actions that strengthens the solid links of cooperation, the Programme for the Training of One Thousand Talents, and the project to execute the construction of a free trade zone and the negotiations on the Free Trade Treaty, a project which will provide enormous benefits and profitability to our economy, as a vital engine for sustainable development.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Equatorial Guinea 48 years ago, the friendship between the two countries has been consolidated, including the considerable support provided by the President, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, following the Szechuan earthquake in 2008, and the construction in the province of Hunan of the Friendship Primary School by the Government of Equatorial Guinea, said the Sub-secretary of the CPC Committee for the Ministry for Commerce.
Along the same lines was the visit in 2015 by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, during which with his counterpart, H. E. Xi Jinping, the two established an integrated cooperative association on the basis of the principles of equality, trust and cooperation for mutual benefit, in addition to signing various cooperation agreements in a variety of sectors.
With the attention and promotion from the heads of State from the two countries, many successes in cooperation have been achieved in the areas of politics, commerce, the economy and culture, and they have provided mutual support in subregional and international affairs.
The negotiations on the China-Equatorial Guinea Free Trade Treaty are very important for us, as they would provide access for Equatorial Guinea and Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa goods to the largest market in the world; Equatorial Guinea would become the focus of Chinese investment for Central and West Africa, which would allow the promotion of a diversified development of the economy, to be an emerging country, added Miaga.
The First Secretary from the diplomatic mission, Camilo Ochaga, representing the Ambassador, German Ekua Sima Abaga, also spoke at the important ceremony, and expressed his gratitude on behalf of Equatorial Guinea to the Chinese people, for the state of China-Equatorial Guinea relations, thus declaring publicly the considerable successes, benefits and opportunities that this cooperation is providing for our country.
Equatorial Guinea has a model for its programme of economic and social development, which is committed to the millennium goals, set for 2030, with the aim of reaching the condition of an emerging country, and on the other hand, China has outlined its plan to eradicate poverty, set for the same year. Through this win-win cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea, the possibilities for success for the two programmes are huge.
In addition to the activities in Beijing, the Equatoguinean delegation will visit other cities in China, not only to research but, through this training, to get to know China better and to become participants in future pragmatic cooperation for both countries.
