On Wednesday 31st July, in Bata, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, opened the ordinary sessions of National Parliament, the second of the year, covering mainly economic and budgetary matters. The ceremony took place in the Ngolo Conference Hall, in the presence of the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, in addition to the heads of constitutional bodies, and political, administrative and religious figures.
The event featured speeches from the presidents of the upper and lower chambers, and the message from the head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The President of the Lower Chamber, Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, affirmed that during this session they would focus on a a study of and liberation of draft laws, agreements and international conventions.
The president of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, for her part, declared that, during the sessions, the senators would analyse the General State Budgets, in addition to laws and projects.
The second annual session of Parliament is very important in the process of the socio-economic development of the country, because during its course the instrument that defines the economic planning that the Government must execute in order to implement the economic development plans for the country is adopted”, affirmed the Head of State.
Furthermore, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo encouraged the deputies in their deliberations to allow prudence, the general interests of the nations, transparency and objectivity in their proposals to prevail.
In another moment in his speech, the Equatoguinean President invited the public administrators to act with honesty and transparency, maintaining the economic growth of the country, and called for the maintenance of peace, the fight against violence, terrorism, anarchy, mercenary invasions, piracy and other factors that incite the people to civil disobedience.
