At 19:00, at the La Paz Municipal Stadium in Malabo, the karate trainers’ course was formally opened, within the branch of refereeing and basic techniques, given by the director of refereeing from the Community of Valencia, Francisco Javier Gonzalez Zais, 7th Dan black belt, who also arrived in Malabo on the 13th.
The Director General for Sports, Josue Esono EdA�, oversaw the event, at the invitation of the president of the Karate Federation, Andres Ikuga, who led the organisation of the event in the presence of the presidents of friendly federations.
The training also includes an exploration to seek new talent in this martial art, as a means of pulling young people away from bad habits.
In addition, from 18th to 22nd April, a senior delegation from the Equatoguinean Karate Federation will go to the island of Annobon to work with the 27 members of the island’s club, in order to continue with the promotion of karate throughout the nation, due to the importance of this sport nowadays, with its recent recognition as an Olympic sport.
