On 9th March the chamber of the Senate of the Republic was the setting for the opening ceremony for the work of the meeting of the Second Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, charged with the Economy, the Environment and Cooperation, overseen by the Portuguese Deputy, Luis Moreira Testa.
The opening ceremony began with an introduction in accordance with protocol, followed by a speech by the President of the Second Statutory Commission of the AP-CPLP, Luis Moreira Testa, who recognised that all CPLP members had different cultures, but despite their peculiarities they should provide mutual support and back the actions of member governments of this Portuguese-speaking community, and demonstrate at all times the capacity and willingness to seek mechanisms that promote equality and participation by citizens through the exchange of experiences, in order to achieve the objectives outlined by the CPLP, however difficult they are.
After his speech, the leader of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, in the presence of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gaudencio Mohaba Messu, in addition to expressing the satisfaction of the Equatorial Guinea Parliament in hosting the work of the meeting of the Second Economic Commission, also recognised the importance of the issues at the centre of deliberations at this international forum.
After declaring open the Meeting of the Second Statutory Commission of the CPLP Parliamentary Assembly, those present posed on the esplanade of the headquarters of the Upper Chamber.
