On Tuesday 30th October, at the Abdou Diop International Conference Centre in Dakar (Senegal) the opening of the Merck Africa Asia Luminary Forum took place, at which over 50 countries from around the world are taking part. The Equatorial Guinea delegation is taking part with the Vice-Minister for Social Affairs and Gender Equality, Esperanza Gertrudis Davies, representing the First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang.
The minister was accompanied at the ceremony by the Director General for Multi-sectoral Coordination from the ministry, Maria del Pilar Medja Nvono, and an expert from the ministry, Mariluz Ikaka Lwanga.
After opening words from the director of the Merck Foundation, the First Lady of Senegal, Mareme Faya Sall, spoke, and invited the participants to take advantage of the projects presented by the foundation.
After the speeches by the first Ladies, the Prime Minister, Mahamed Boun Abdalla, gave the opening speech for the work of the forum. In the afternoon, the delegations divided up into working groups.
The aims of the foundation are:
-To contribute to social and economic development in developing countries.
-To strengthen the capacities and attitudes in health matters.
-To improve actions to services and points for healthcare in quality of performance.
