The people of Riaba celebrated on 18th May the opening and consecration of the new church in the urban district of Maule dedicated to the Virgin of Fatima, at a solemn cere3mony overseen by the Archbishop of the Diocese of Malabo, Juan Nsue Edjang, which was attended by the Second Vice Prime Minister, A�ngel Masie Mibuy, representing the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The ceremony began with a procession featuring the image of the Virgin Mary and words from the Bishop of Malabo, followed by a speech from the Second Vice Prime Minister, who described the moment as historic, and underlined the importance of peace as an element favouring the implementation of these infrastructures, and later unveiled a commemorative plaque and took part in the handover of keys to the new church to the archbishop.
This important ceremony, which was attended by the Governor of the Province of Bioko Sur, provincial and district authorities, dignitaries and guests, concluded with thanks from the Vice-President of the Council of the Republic, Vicente Ehate Tomi, as a native of the place, to the Government and all those present, and invited the Christian community to look after and make good use of the new church.
The new urban district of Maule, belonging to the jurisdiction of Riaba, was inaugurated in March by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, during his State tour of the entire nation.
