On 22nd October, a large group condemned by the courts who were serving their sentences in the prisons of Evinayong and Bata were pardoned.
The act of pardon was overseen by the Director General of Penitentiary Institutions, Pascasio Efa Obama Nchama, together with various figures from the ministries for Security and National Defence, the Interior and Local Corporations, and the General Administrator from the Evinayong Public Prison, and the one from Bata.
The exact application of Decree N 160/2018, of 10th October, granting pardons to some prisoners, shows national and international public opinion once again the irreversible will of the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to sustain and maintain freedom, peace, justice, human dignity, democracy and dignity before the law.
The atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm reigning in the public penitentiary institutions in Malabo, Bata and Evinayong due to the release of these prisoners, justifies the constant vocation of H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to be always at the service of the people.
The number of prisoners absolved in Evinayong was 59; among them 28 were prisoners from the disbanded C.I. party.
In Bata a total of 12 prisoners were freed.
