The ceremony, within the framework of the celebration of the day of the Freedom Coup, on 3rd August, took place on Wednesday 2nd August of this month at the Gran Hotel Djibloho, during the opening and closing of the second ordinary period of Sessions of the National Parliament. The event featured the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, accompanied by his wife, Constancia Mangue de Obiang.
The first speaker at the event was Aniceto Alogo Angue, Senator for the jurisdiction of Nzok-Nzomo, who was sworn in to his post, replacing Fortunato Ofa Mbo Nchama, who has been entrusted with other responsibilities outside the Nation.
During the sessions, the attention of the parliamentarians will focus on the study of draft laws, agreements, ratification proposals, and complaint and request submissions”, according to Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, President of the Chamber of Deputies.
The President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, for her part, thanked both the head of State and Constancia Mangue de Obiang for the moral and economic support that they have always provided for the institution which was created 4 years ago, and for the humanitarian aid provided for various layers of society.
During the event, she also congratulated the PDGE militants who were named as vice-presidents of the grouping, and for including two great women on the list: Constancia Mangue de Obiang and Evangelina Filomena Oyo Ebule, in that respect, invite an evaluation of the task and efforts of the Equatoguinean woman.
She also recommended the executive to introduce the practice of opening reform centres, in order to eradicate infantile delinquency, and the establishment of the single window for the control of tax revenue, in addition to opening a psychiatric centre in Bata to avoid patients having to move to the Island of Bioko. During these sessions, the Senate will look at various matters, organise training courses for personnel, and launch its dedicated web page.
The institutional declaration granting H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo the title of “Father and Artifice of modern Equatorial Guinea”, of 31st May this year, was read out by Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, President of the Chamber of Deputies, and the presentation of the award was made by Efua Asangono.
In his message, the leader of the nations expressed his satisfaction on once again being with members of the upper parliamentary institution in its second session of 2017, in order to deal with questions affecting life in Equatorial Guinea, the plans of which he said will satisfy the needs of the Equatoguinean people.
The current ordinary parliamentary session continued with a speech by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The President affirmed that “Equatorial Guinea cannot go unnoticed, as it is part of the community of nations which is obliged to take part in the current system of globalisation and international policy to promote the general well-being of humanity”.
As these parliamentary sessions coincide with the commemoration of the 38th Anniversary of the Freedom Coup, a historic event having its justification in the search for the social well-being and happiness of the people, an aim which to date has been achieved with sufficient ease, it should further encourage us to ensure that the development process we are promoting in our country does not suffer any setback as a consequence of the previously experienced upheavals”, continued the Head of State.
For the Equatoguinean leader, the development which began in 1979 has been thanks to the peace and political stability they have been able to create, praising on the one hand the condition of independent sovereign country, and on the other hand, the practice of the right and capacity of affirmation as a nations, together with imposing the respect due to the country as an independent nation, by the international community.
The President reiterated at the event the congratulations for the National Armed Forces and State Security, together with the Equatorial Guinea people, because he added that “they knew how to overthrow the regime of the dictatorship which ruled in the country in 1979, the merits of which they possess today and, since then, they have not strayed from having the people as a guide and adviser for everything that has been done for the benefit of the people of Equatorial Guinea”.
Regarding the award of “Father and artifice of modern Equatorial Guinea”, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said that if that merit has been recognised by the people, a declared fact, then accept that it is the people and its history that must defend this honour and make the legacy last.
The President issued an invitation to all political figures in the nation, and to the people in general, to take part in this electoral process, in order to make it transparent, democratic, fair, ordered and peaceful.
The ceremony, which took place at the Gran Hotel Djibloho, was attended by the First Lady of the Nation, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the Prime Minister, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, and other political, civil, military and religious authorities.
