PDGE General Secretary receives Chinese Ambassador

The PDGE General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, accompanied by his deputy, Jesusa Obono Engono, received today in audience at the PDGE National Office (Malabo II) , the Ambassador from the People’s Republic of China, Qi Mei.

The PDGE General Secretary used the occasion to congratulate Qi Mei, and through her the Chinese people, for the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and expressed his admiration for the tenacity and effort employed, which has allowed the incredible development and achievements of seven decades by China, which has placed it as the huge global power it is today, admired both at home and abroad.

Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro passed on to Qi Mei, in the name of the PDGE President Founder, the unconditional support and solidarity of the party regarding the disturbances and social violence which has been taking place in Hong Kong for weeks, instigated by the interference of powers interested in destroying the peace, prosperity and territorial cohesion of China, with the aim of undermining its level of development.

Along those lines the PDGE General Secretary reiterated the great importance placed by Equatorial Guinea on the relations of friendship and cooperation with China, both at a Government level and at the level of their respective parties, because for the PDGE its links with the Communist Party of China is preferential, and their relations over almost fifty years have been solid, fraternal, sincere and of mutual benefit to the two nations and their peoples, and thus China can always count on the unconditional support of our country in resolving issues which undermine its sovereignty, stability and peace among nationals, because China not only has been a principal and essential partner in the development of our country, but has been a mirror for a young nation such as Equatorial Guinea to look into.

Qi Mei thanked Osa Osa Ecoro for the expression of solidarity and sensitivity towards China regarding the current climate of tension between her country and Hong Kong; an expression that only goes to confirm the depth and solidity of the relations of friendship and cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea, and between the PDGE and the Communist Party, which will celebrate fifty years in 2020. Equatorial Guinea is a friendly country and brother to China, in whom we can trust and always depend on, as demonstrated by the attendance of the highest authorities from the PDGE National Office, members of the Government and senior State figures at the events organised in Malabo to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese Ambassador agreed with Osa Osa Ecoro in the expression of her desire and willingness to continue to join forces to improve and enhance cooperation between China and Equatorial Guinea, and between the PDGE and the Communist Party of China.

Within the framework of the commemoration of fifty years of the establishment of bilateral relations in 220, a celebration which could coincide with the 34th anniversary of the establishment of links between the governing parties in the two countries, the PDGE, in coordination with the Chinese Embassy, will draw up a programme of activities to give the occasion the emphasis and importance it deserves.
