The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), Brother Militant Jerónimo Osa Osa Ecoro, announced this today, Friday 23rd September.
The number one from the National Office, in a brief statement to the national press, stated that the decision had been unanimous by the Permanent Executive Board and the Contingent Executive Board. The two boards are the highest decision-making bodies within our Great Mass Movement. Both the Permanent and the Contingent Executive Boards are represented by members from each district in the country.
Osa Osa Ecoro informed the people and the entire national and international community that the main purpose of the meeting held at the National Office in Malabo II, a plenary meeting, was to decide on our party’s candidate for the forthcoming elections.
He also clarified that it was necessary to hold this meeting in order to ratify the candidacy of the Founding President of the PDGE for the electoral confrontations, after the Presidency of the Republic had called elections for the Presidency of the Republic, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies and the City Councils.
He also stressed that the VI Extraordinary National Congress, in addition to the VII Ordinary National Congress, had issued resolutions ratifying the continuity of the Presidency of the Party under the Founding President for an indefinite period of time, which is why the President was, indisputably, the party candidate.
In addition, he clarified that the Permanent Executive Board and the Contingent Executive Board, as a consequence of their powers, have to watch over and ensure the implementation of the decisions of the Congress, and so the decisions had to be ratified.
Finally, he concluded by pointing out that “as of now, it is official that in the upcoming elections on 20th November, the PDGE candidate for the presidential elections is its Founding President, Militant Brother Obiang Nguema Mbasogo”.
