On 7th April there was an executive meeting at the National Office of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea in Malabo. At the meeting, the General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, in addition to passing on a message from the President of the Republic, following the State Tour carried out throughout the nation, declared that this year the Ordinary Party Congress would be held, and there would be internal elections in order to draw up the municipal, legislative and senate ballot lists which will also be held this year.
Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro delivered a message of greetings and gratitude from H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to the presidents of the PDGE monitoring commissions for the welcomes that both himself and the First Lady of the Nation received during their State Tour, from both the PDGE militancy and the general public.
The General Secretary also praised the fantastic welcomes received by the presidential couple: “The smiles, the warmth and the love that the people have for our leader was seen”, and he asked all those at the meeting to pass on the message from the President of the Republic, so that it reaches the entire population.
The General Secretary also gave the presidents of the district commissions the list of all PDGE militants who were decorated during the tour, in order to coordinate with members of the executive in each constituency, and submit a report to the National Office.
Furthermore, Osa Osa recalled that is is a year of special importance because there will be an Ordinary Party Congress, together with legislative, senate and municipal elections, and he reported on the process that will be followed in order to choose the party candidates:
“There will be open elections among PDGE militants which will be competitive on an internal level. The lists will be drawn up with those militants who put their names forward. After the congress we must have all the party lists, for both the Chamber of Deputies and for the Senate”, he declared.
He also asked that those responsible for the monitoring commissions draw up reports on their activities during the State Tour.
