The Draft Family Code Law continues to be the subject of debates for the Senate Permanent Commission for Justice and Human Rights, overseen by Silvestre Siale Bileka, under the supervision of the President of the Upper Chamber, Teresa Efua Asangono.
The members of the commission debated article 29, which states that those under eighteen can marry with the prior consent of their parents.
The members insisted on disallowing marriage for minors. They were also concerned about the greater attention given to legislation on traditional marriage, without taking into account the general aspects of the family code.
