On Tuesday 25th June, over five hundred people gathered in Plaza de la Mujer, to take part in the popular demonstration to mark the 50th Birthday of the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, in a gesture of gratitude and recognition that the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) militants wished to offer to mark his day.
First thing in the morning, various PDGE figures, women, young members and companies joined the demonstration leaving Plaza de la Mujer, passing along Hasan II and Los Angeles, before reaching the former Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and ending on the Promenade, with choirs entertaining the crowds.
After the demonstration, the president of the PDGE Monitoring Commission, Manuel Cristobal Morgades Ichaka, gave a speech highlighting the personal traits of brother militant, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, in addition to the actions taken by him as Vice-President of the Republic, pointing out the social work, academic and professional promotion, and the awarding of grants to Equatoguinean students abroad, among others.
Furthermore, he declared that 50 years was not a countdown, but the start of a new era that was gradually forging prosperity, solidarity, calm and peace in Equatorial Guinea.
He ended by wishing the Vice-President of the Republic a happy birthday in the name of all those present, and sharing a cake and champagne.
