Presentation of Best Wishes to Head of State

On Friday 28th December, at the People’s palace in Malabo, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, oversaw the ceremony of the presentation of best wishes from all political, social and religious tiers in Equatorial Guinea.

This is a traditional act in which there is an overall evaluation of achievements by the country in the execution and deployment of economic and social development programmes and projects over the last year.

Gregorio Boho Camo, President of the Bioko Chamber of Trade; Juan Nsue Edjang Meye, archbishop of the arch-diocese of Malabo; Francisco Mba Olo Bahamonde, leader of the ADP party; the accredited Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador from Cameroon to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, representative of the diplomatic corps; Jeronimo Osa Osa Ekoro, PDGE General Secretary; Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, Prime Minister of the Government, and Administration Coordinator; the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, David Nguema Obiang Eyang and Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, representing the bicameral national parliament, all expressed their best wishes of well-being, health and praise for the Head of State and his family, to mark the end of 2018 and the start of 2019.

The President of the Republic described as great truths the words from the first speakers at the ceremony, and divided his speech into three large sections covered in the national development programme under Horizonte 2020 devised by the government apparatus.

Along those lines, he stated that the Republic of Equatorial Guinea was ending 2018 with good results regarding the economy, because they have kept a balanced budget despite the national economic recession.

With respect to the political sector, the President praised the political maturity of the people in the organisation of the recent table for national dialogue, and respect for the current national political pact, to name a couple, while diplomatic action has been crowned with the country’s membership of the United nations Security Council, as a non-permanent member, together with the holding of the diplomatic conference in October.

Furthermore, and due to the recent successful celebration of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, the leader of the nation stated that the country is ready to enter 2019 with its best foot forward.

In addition, he expressed his best wishes and desires of well-being to the people of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea for the coming year, and offered a cocktail to all the guests in the banqueting room at the People’s palace in Malabo.
