On 19th April, the President of the Republic, H. E Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, oversaw the ceremony for the presentation of credentials for the new ambassadors from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Zambia. On the same day, the Head of State received in audience diplomats from the Republic of France and the People’s Republic of China.
The Russian Federation Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Anatoli Gennadievitch Baskyn, presented his credentials before the President, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, at a ceremony held at the People’s Palace in Malabo.
Led by the director generals for Ceremonies, Juan Francisco Ebendeng Ango, and Protocol, Salvador Esono Obono, the Russian diplomat shook the hand of members of the Government and advisers to the head of State’s Office present at the act.
Gennadievitch Baskyn replaces Nikolay Ratsiborinsky in the post, and will have the headquarters of his diplomatic mission in Yaunde, Republic of Cameroon.
During the audience with H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the conversation focussed on relations uniting Malabo and Moscow. The Russian Federation has always supported Equatorial Guinea in various areas, such as in its candidacy as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
After the act, the Republic of Zambia Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Friday Musiyalike Nyambe, arrived, and spoke to the Equatoguinean Head of State and received, in the same way, together with the delegation accompanying him, a welcome from those present.
Musiyalike Nyambe is the first ambassador that Zambia has appointed to work closely with the Malabo administration, in order to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations for the benefit of their respective peoples. The new representative will have the same responsibilities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Both the Russian Ambassador and the Zambian ambassador gave their impressions and signed the Palace visitors’ book, and the Equatoguinean national anthem closed the ceremonies for the presentation of credentials.
Then, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo granted two audiences to the ambassadors from France and China, to examine with them the current global political and economic situation.
At the meeting with the French ambassador, Fred Constant, the two spoke about the United Nations Security Council, and the position of their countries with respect to the bloody war in Syria, together with strategies and possible solutions which could put an end to the conflict.
After that, the President received the ambassador from the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue.
Chen Gouyou expressed to the Head of State the desire of the Beijing Government to establish pragmatic cooperation with the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
Along those lines, the ambassador expressed gratitude for the meeting with the Head of State, as it had allowed him to identify the way to encourage Chinese companies to contribute to the reorientation of the construction programme for the city of Djibloho, and to widen the lines and ways of finance and cooperation.
H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Chen Gouyou also spoke about the preparations for the celebration of the V Economic and Commerce Mixed Commission in Malabo, in the month of July.
The Chinese Government has invited the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to form an active part of the Beijing Economic Forum between China and Africa, at the end of 2018.
